In a past several weeks I was overwhelmed by a dozens of works…. a lot of tasks that I should complete in a scheduled timeframe… may be it is also my fault, actually those works have been assigned to me a long time before… but everytime i shoud do these tasks and works sometimes i’ve become very lazy… and always thinking of that I can do those things later… I’m always like that… and sometimes because of it i’m often facing a stackfull of works that i’ll have to finish or complete fast….. is it called Procrastrinate?????
Procastrinator… maybe this is what keeping me where I am right now… a very unsuccesfull, unorganized, and often unefficient and uneffective person…. (Fiuhh… sweeps…. taking deep breath…)
I tried to find what is the meaning of this word… PROCRASTRINATE… and this is what i get… :
The word itself comes from the Latin word procrastinatus: pro- (forward) and crastinus (of tomorrow). The term’s first known appearance was in Edward Halls The Union of the Noble and Illustre Famelies of Lancastre and York, first published sometime before 1548. The Sermon reflected procrastination’s connection at the time to task avoidance or delay, volition or will, and sin.
Procrastrination…. (based on wiikipedia: is a type of behavior which is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite procrastination as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. Psychology researchers also have three criteria they use to categorize procrastination. For a behavior to be classified as procrastination, it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying.
For an individual, procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt, the loss of personalproductivity, the creation of crisis and the disapproval of others for not fulfilling one’s responsibilities or commitments. These combined feelings can promote further procrastination. While it is normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying physiological or physiological disorder.
Well… how to overcome it? cure it? make it dissapears? eliminating the habit? that is still remaining a big question to me….
